How does it work?
How does
it work?
Our wafer-thin nanofiber membrane filter is made of fibers 1/500th the width of a human hair, which form an ultra-fine, web-like mechanical barrier that physically blocks airborne particles.
Our filters are tested to block >95% of particles down to 0.3µm.
To put this into context, here are the sizes of common airborne particles.

Rigorously Tested
with Accredited Labs
Our filtration testing is conducted at labs accredited by the American Association for Laboratory Accreditation (A2LA) to the ISO/IEC 17025 standard. Results have been further validated in independent testing sponsored by the New York Times Wirecutter.

Washable and Reusable
Filters maintain 95%
filtration efficacy after
50 hand-washes.*
The Ultra Series is machine-
washable on gentle cycle in
a mesh bag.
Please follow washing
instructions HERE and allow
masks to air-dry.
*Based on testing conducted at ICS Laboratories. Masks were hand-washed at 100 degrees F for 10 minutes with Tide Free and Gentle detergent.
Repeated Wash Test ReportBreathability
The controlled stretching process used to create our filter creates millions of micropores per square centimeter, ranging in size from 0.1 - .5 micrometers.
The size of the micropores
is wide enough to allow air
to pass freely while still
providing effective filtration.
When worn and cared for correctly, our masks offer one of the highest standards of filtration efficacy without compromising on breathability and comfort.
Happy Masks vs. Other Masks
Happy Masks vs.
Other Masks
How do Happy Masks measure up to other masks out there? Let's take a look.
Type of Masks | ![]() HAPPY MASKS |
![]() Fabric Mask w/o Filter |
![]() KN95 Mask |
---|---|---|---|
Filter Material | Nanofiber Membrane | None | Meltblown |
Filtration of Aerosols |
95%-99% | 30% | 95%-99% |
Filtration Type | Employs mechanical filtration, where an ultra- fine, web-like mechanical barrier physically blocks airborne particles. |
None | Utilizes electrostatic charge, where electrical field gradients attract and intercept airborne particles. |
Washability/ Reusability |
Maintains 95% filtration efficacy after 50 hand washes. Lasts approximately 2 months with normal use. | Washable, multi-use. | Not washable, single-use. Filtration declines dramatically if filter gets wet due to dependency on electrostatic charge. |
Breathability | Millions of micropores per square centimeter allow air to pass through while still maintaining a high level of filtration. | Varies depending on fabric. | Higher humidity levels, breath resistance, and accumulation of heat. |
PRO VS. ULTRA
What's the
difference?
Both offer 98% filtration efficacy, but have different design features to meet your unique needs.

Pro Series
Soft and Lightweight
Sewn into the trim for a higher seal. Recommended for glasses-wearers.
Maintains 95% filtration after
50 hand washes.
Small, Medium, Large
Our most lightweight mask, ideal for
those with sensory sensitivities.

Ultra Series
Sturdy and Structured
Sewn just below the trim
for extra durability.
Maintains 95% filtration after 50 hand
washes or 25 machine washes.
X-Small, Small, Medium, Large, X-Large
Additional structured support layer to
better withstand wear and tear.
